High-res audio from wireless Technics headphones

High-res playback is the focus of two new Bluetooth headphones recently launched by Technics. The EAH-F70N and EAH-F50B feature new driver technology, and are compatible with LDAC/apt-X HD, ensuring high-resolution audio playback, despite their wireless status.

The two headphones employ new 40mm dynamic drivers with a composite-film diaphragm that is both rigid and internally damped. According to Technics, this ensures both low-frequency performance and expansive soundstaging.

Both headphones support LDAC and apt-X HD for high-res wireless playback. LDAC supports 96 kHz/24-bit resolutions, while apt-X HD is good for 48 kHz/24-bit playback.

In addition, the EAH-F70 includes active noise cancelling with a three-way adjustable noise cancelling effect. Noise cancelling is achieved through both a feed forward system linked to an external microphone, and a feedback system with a separate microphone near the drive unit.

A 3D ball joint system allows the ear cups to move in three dimensions for an improved fit, while a swivel and fold mechanism makes for convenient storage of the ‘phones when not Iin use. The ear pads are made of soft, low-resilience polyurethane foam.

The new Technics headphones have a easy-to-drive impedance of just 26 ohms, and a frequency response of 4 Hz to 40 kHz. Rated sensitivity is 99 dB/mW. The headphones can be used wired or wirelessly.

Charge time is 4 hours, but a quick charge function allows up to 3 hours of use from just 15 minutes of charging.
