Two new, premium soundbars by Samsung now feature Harman Kardon-enhanced performance.
The HW-N950 and HW-N850 soundbars were developed by Samsung in collaboration with Harman Kardon, which contributed its experience and expertise in the consumer audio space to the project.
Samsung acquired Harman International in 2017, and co-operation between the two companies up to now has included AKG-supplied earphones for selected Samsung mobile phones and tablets, as well as theatre and cinema solutions via Harman’s JBL Professional subsidiary.
The two co-developed soundbars are a first for both companies, and the result is enhanced audio performance, Samsung claims. Thanks to the efforts of Harman’s acoustics experts, the soundbars are said to deliver immersive, three-dimensional sound.
Included are compatibility with object-based Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround formats. The HW-N950 system includes four speakers and a further two wireless surround speakers to maximise the system’s three-dimensional steering capabilities. A wireless subwoofer is also provided.
While the HW-N950 is configured for 7.1.4 operation, the HW-N850 features a slightly less complex 5.1.2-channel configuration, comprising a main soundbar and accompanying subwoofer. Both systems were sonically certified by Harman Kardon after objective and subjective testing.
