Chord Electronics unveiled a new phono stage at this year’s High End Munich expo. The Huei follows a similarly compact form factor as the marque’s Qutest DAC, and features both moving magnet and moving coil compatibility.
The main functions are microprocessor controlled, while a top-mounted window provides a view of the electronics inside the solid aluminium casework. Chord fans will also recognise the spherical, polychromatic controls utilised by several other Chord products, including the Hugo, Mojo and Qutest.
Designed to accommodate a wide range of MM and MC cartridges, the Huei offers extended gain and impedance settings, with the seven-stage gain adjustment and the various impedance settings easily accessible via controls on the front panel.
The Huei offers a set of single-ended RCA inputs, and a choice of balanced XLR or single-ended RCA outputs. It’s powered by a separate 12V power supply.
