Anthem ups the room correction ante

Anthem Room Correction (ARC) has been generally acknowledged as a leading room correction and calibration system, blurring the lines between home and professional audio applications, and offering both precise results and meaningful enhancements.

At last week’s ISE 2019 expo in Amsterdam, Anthem revealed the first details of its new room correction system. Dubbed ARC Genesis, the third-generation system is compatible with both stereo and multichannel applications.

Highlight features include enhanced measurement, beefed up acoustic correction algorithms, customisation via a user-configurable target curve, and a more intuitive user interface. The new ARC software is also now compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Using ARC Genesis, users can measure the acoustic properties of a room, and then optimise the performance of compatible stereo and home theatre components in the context of that specific environment.

ARC used to be a Windows-only programme, but now broadens its horizons to include Mac computers, while connectivity options include Wi-Fi/Ethernet, USB and Bluetooth. A Genesis version of the ARC mobile app for iOS and Android is also being readied for release.

Older, legacy products will also benefit from the improvements and broader compatibility offered by the ARC Genesis system. The new system is both quicker and even more accurate than before, and its capabilities now extend to phase alignment of speakers or subwoofers connected to Anthem’s latest STR Series products.

The new user interface represents a major improvement as far as user-friendliness is concerned, and includes a guided workflow, simpler descriptions, contextual help menus, interactive measurement graphs, and multi-language support.

Anthem ARC Genesis will be offered as a free download from the Anthem Electronics website at from April this year.
